1. Hokamix was recommended to me for my dog, who weighs 30 kg and has a very scaly skin and moist eczema. Which Hokamix product in which dose would be the most suitable? For dogs with more severe skin problems, the extra-powerful Hokamix30 Forte can be used. This gives extra support in the case of persistent problems. For less serious problems, you could begin with the standard Hokamix30 Powder. It is advisable to start by administering a high dose temporarily as the body needs fast and thorough cleansing. This is approximately 1.7 times the normal dose and should be given for a period of five to six weeks. For example, a medium-sized dog weighing 30 kg with a severe skin and coat disorder should be given 25 grams of Hokamix30 Powder in its food for five weeks. After this you can revert to the normal dose of 15 grams per day. In such severe cases, it is also useful to give Hokamix30 Skin & Shine as an extra supplement.

Sluiten 2. Can Hokamix cause an allergic reaction? As with all food substances an allergic reaction is possible, although this is rare. An allergy to one of the herbs or other ingredients of Hokamix30 can become evident as soon as the product is first given if the pet vomits soon after eating the product, or develops very serious itching or rashes within two days, without having displayed these symptoms before. In such a case you should, of course, stop giving the product to your pet.
Sluiten 3. Hokamix has a high calcium content. Won’t this cause bone problems? The proportion of calcium to phosphorus in the analysis may appear unusual, but this will not interfere with bone development. The calcium in Hokamix30 is fully biodegradable, so any surplus will be excreted by an adult dog. Furthermore, calcium from plants is less accessible than calcium from meat products. It is often bound to vegetable elements such as phytates and oxalates, or is captured in fibres, making it unavailable to the body. The specific composition of Hokamix30 is essential in connection with the catalytic properties of certain calcium-containing herbs.
Sluiten 4. I have been giving my dog Hokamix for one week to combat itching. The itching is now becoming worse. Why is this? It is possible for your dog to experience a reaction during the first two weeks that may result in more moulting, fiercer itching or looser bowel movements (sometimes diarrhoea). This is no cause for concern. On the contrary, it is a positive sign that the Hokamix30 is working and that the purification of the body has begun.
Sluiten 5. I give my dog a complete feed, so why should I add Hokamix? If complete feeds really were complete, you would not need to add anything. See the homepage. The problem is that certain nutrients cannot be absorbed properly by the body, or cannot be absorbed at all. This may be because the feed has been heated during the pressing or extrusion of the chunks. Theoretically the feed may therefore contain everything your dog needs, but if it is unable to digest the nutrients properly these cannot be utilized for the growth and sustenance of the body. This makes the addition of Hokamix30 very beneficial.
Sluiten 6. I have been giving my labrador Hokamix for four weeks as a remedy for joint problems. However, as yet there is no improvement? Hokamix30 must be added to the feed for at least six to eight weeks in the case of joint disorders, and for at least five to six weeks in the case of skin and coat disorders. A certain period of time is needed for the entire body to be cleansed and for the metabolic process to improve. You could also give Hokamix30 Joint + , which has been developed especially for joint disorders.
Sluiten 7. Why is there little improvement in the excessive moulting of our dog? I have been giving Hokamix for three months. Am I doing something wrong? There are a number of possible reasons why no results are evident after six to eight weeks. If Hokamix30 is being given as a preventive measure in the absence of a specific problem or ailment, it is logical that direct improvements are not immediately evident. It has not been given for long enough. See question 3. No temporary high dose was given in the beginning. See question 4. The dose is too low. Instead of the prescribed 1 gram per kg per day, a dog weighing 25 kg may perhaps be receiving a total of only 5 grams per day. The supplement is not administered daily. This means that the feed is not digested optimally each day. Hokamix30 is mixed with the feed and then hot water is added. This has drastic consequences for the effectiveness of the product, as some of the ingredients are rendered inactive if the temperature exceeds 35°C. A more digestible feed is required, such as a good dinner or canned food. This is easier for the dog to digest.
